EFFICIENT RECOURCE USE

Midsona strives to promote health and well-being and to create value and benefit for all its stakeholders. This implies a long-term commitment, where the team must evaluate and verify that operations are using their resources in a responsible manner so that people can live and feel good without risking future generations to do the same.

Midsona is aware of the impact the operation has on the environment through the use of water, energy, packaging and product transportation. The Group is already taking responsibility for its own organic production, which has the least possible negative impact on the environment and humans. In addition, this shows Midsona the way to transport our offices, warehouses and also our products.

New production methods, energy savings, improved waste control, and packaging solutions are areas that Midsona has identified as important for efficient resource utilization within the Group. These include:

 

  • Energy must be renewable and consumption must be as low as possible.
  • The amount of waste should be minimized and sorted as much as possible
  • Midsona reduces the amount of packaging material
  • Midsona measures all electricity, water and waste 

ENERGY

At the Midsona factory in Ascheberg, Germany, 3,633 square meters of solar cells have been installed on the roof. The panels generate about 24 percent of the energy demand, the rest comes from renewable sources.

At Midsona's other factory in Mariager, Denmark, most of the energy consumption comes from local wind farms or our own solar panels.

 

WASTE

Midsona sorts and measures all waste in its own facilities. Organic waste from the Malmö office is used as biofuel for municipal cars. At the Ascheberg unit, the waste was used at an external biofuel plant, a composting plant or as animal feed. Also in Norway, where Midsona moved Oslo to a responsible office building in 2016, the waste is used for biogas and bus fuel.
